SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman made a seven-stroke improvement on Monday, helping the Eagles move to third-place after the second round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at the Sevierville Golf Club.

"Really excited with our team effort and results after today's round," head coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "It's been a while since we have felt this good and moved up!

"The weather turned out to be a non-factor which really helped the scoring."

Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) led the way for the Eagles on the second day of the three day tournament, improving by four strokes from her Sunday score of 76 to garner a two-over score of 73. Her second round score is her second-lowest round score of the season. She now has a total score of 150, eight shots over par. She leaped up eight spots through the two rounds to end Monday at sixth on the leaderboard.

England now sits at a four-way tie for first on par 4 scoring. She is one-over on such holes, holding a 4.07 average. She also has shot on par for 27 of the 36 holes she has played, the second-most in the field.

"Elizabeth showed her determination and senior leadership qualities with a 73," Strudiwck mentioned.

One total stroke behind the senior was Reagan Kinnie (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) who made the largest jump on the leaderboard among all the Eagles in the field at 20 spots to a tie at seventh. She was one over on Monday with a 72, her lowest round score of the 2017-18 campaign. She is now nine-over par for the event with a 151 total.

"Reagan had her best score this year, showing her talents off with a low 72," Strudwick said of the sophomore. "This is why I have her picked as my No. 1 player next year."

Taylor Hayes (Lake Ozark, Mo.) was four shots higher on Monday, carding an 80. The junior is now +14 through two days as she moved down to a tie for 20th on the leaderboard.

Allie Fletcher (Cumming, Ga.) also moved down the leaderboard on the day with a second round score of 80, a pair of shots higher than her first round score. Sitting at a tie for 26th, she is now 16-above par with a 158 total.
