WALLACE, N.C. – A second-straight team score of 310 dropped the Eagles slightly down the leaderboard but kept them within the top-five with a +71 total of 935 as Carson-Newman closed out the regular season with a fifth-place finish at the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic on Tuesday.

C-N's 935 total marks its best 54-hole score of the season, surpassing the 937 score it carded a week prior at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.

Anna Davenport (Roswell, Ga.) matched her season-lowest round score in the third round as the sophomore carded a 75 to land her at fourth in the entire field, the best finish in her career. She was 12-over through three rounds with a 228 total.

The junior shot the second most birdies in the field with nine and was tied for the third-best Par 5 scoring average with an even 5.00 clip. She also tied for the third-best Par 3 score with a one-over average at 3.08.

"Another outstanding performance by Anna to finish in fourth-place," head coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "Team played well but just not quite sharp enough to hold onto a top-three finish."

Allie Fletcher (Cumming, Ga.) was six-over in the final round with a 78, shooting one shot better than her second round score. She moved down to a for 13th to end the event at +18 with a 234.

Participating in her final regular season event of an illustrious career with Carson-Newman, Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) closed out the Classic at 17th. She carded a 78 in the final round, one stroke better than her first and second round score. Her 236 score landed her at 20-over through 54 rounds of play.

Jayla Sims (Hixson, Tenn.) shot an 82 on Tuesday to match her first round score. She concluded the event at 24 shots above par with a 240 total, good enough to land the freshman in a tie for 24th on the leaderboard.

Reagan Kinnie (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) saw improvement in her play on Tuesday compared to her pair of 82s she carded on Monday. Kinnie shot seven-shots over par for a 79 in the third round, pushing her three-round total to a 27-over score of 243 for a spot at 30th.

"We definitely learned the areas in each player's game that needs to improve before the conference championship," Strudwick mentioned.

Lenoir-Rhyne remained as the top team by the end of the event with a +54 score of 918. Host team UNC Pembroke took second with a 929 followed by Wingate at third, scoring a 932 total.

Of the seven South Atlantic Conference teams in the field, four of them landed in the top-five of the field with Anderson taking fourth, just one stroke better than C-N.

Wingate's Diana McDonald won the event after she birdied a putt in the playoff hole, forcing L-R's Ainee O'Connor into a second place finish. They both concluded with a 223 total score, seven-over par. Lincoln Memorial's Lise Malherbe was third at 10-over.

The Eagles now shift their focus on preparing for the South Atlantic Conference Championship from April 15-17 at the Members Club of Woodcreek in Newberry, S.C.
