JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (9-7, 5-1 South Atlantic Conference) will host the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears (5-13, 1-5 South Atlantic Conference) for a three-game series this Friday and Sunday at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.

The Eagles are 5-1 in SAC play, with the most wins of any team in the conference heading into this weekend of play. Carson-Newman began conference play with a sweep of then-no. 19 Tusculum two weeks ago before taking two of three from Brevard this past weekend.

Friday's opening game of the series is at 1 p.m., with the first game of Sunday's doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The Sunday contests will be two seven-inning contests.

In Carson-Newman's last game at Young Harris on Wednesday, the Eagles trailed 9-0 heading into the top of the seventh before scoring four runs in that frame and another in the ninth to make the contest a four-run game, yet the Mountain Lions held on for the 9-5 victory.

The Eagles have now lost their last two midweek games, and are 2-2 in midweek out-of-conference games this season.

Against Young Harris, Peter Rajkovich and Shade Jett were the only Eagles with multi-hit games, with Jett going 2-for-4 with his homer and 2 RBI while Rajkovich was 2-for-5.

Bo Ausmus continues to shine at the plate for Carson-Newman as he is third on the team with a .339 batting average whie leading the team in both home runs (3) and runs batted in (13).

Carson-Newman will maintain its regular starting rotation this weekend against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Senior right-hander Chris Armstrong (2-2, 2.42 ERA) will start in Friday's opener.

Senior right-hander Alex Britt (2-1, 2.73 ERA) will start the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, while sophomore right-hander Quinton Yocom (2-1, 2.95 ERA) will start the final game on Saturday.

The Bears, picked to finish ninth out of tenth in the preseason SAC poll, come into weekend play on a four-game losing streak, and were swept at Wingate last weekend. Dalton Hall leads Lenoir-Rhyne at the plate with a .426 batting average in 16 games played, while Rai Robinson leads the team in RBI with 18 and David Martin is the top slugger with three homers through the first 18 games.
