JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman men's soccer head coach Stephen Lyons has announced the hiring of Charles Mueller as the team's new graduate assistant coach.

Mueller will work directly with Carson-Newman's goalkeepers.

"Excited to have him join the staff," Carson-Newman head coach Stephen Lyons said. "He's had great experience working with and around professional clubs and environments, including One Knoxville, as well as helping with various goalkeeper camps in the area. He is young, ambitious and willing to learning the role of not just the keeper coach but other aspects of the program as well."

Mueller graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in July, getting his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation/Sport Management. He is currently working on his US Soccer Coaching D Level License.

He served as a team manager for the University of Tennessee's women's soccer team this past season and has been an official NCAA practice player during his undergraduate studies. With the team, he assisted coaches and staff to ensure smooth operations and helped run pre-season training sessions with the team captains.

Since the beginning of 2024, Mueller has also served as a team manager for One Knoxville Soccer Club.

Over the last year, Mueller been a Youth Academy Coach for U7 and U8 age groups, while also doing private training sessions with U12 and U11 players.

During his playing days, Mueller was a four-year starter on Columbus Academy's varsity soccer team. He was the captain during his junior and senior seasons and was named a first-team all-district defensive player in 2020. He also comped with the UDA Soccer Academy in Chester, England, where he was a first-team defensive player.
