JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (2-6-3, 1-4-1 SAC) continues conference play when it battles Lenoir-Rhyne (4-5, 3-3 SAC) in a road contest tomorrow evening at 5:00 p.m.

Carson-Newman hits the road for the sixth time this season on Saturday. The Eagles are 1-3-1 on the road this season. The lone road win came versus Emory & Henry at the start of October, a 3-0 victory.

The Eagles have their most success when getting off to good starts. Lyons' group has led at halftime in three matches and is 2-0-1. When scoring the first goal, C-N is 2-1-2 and has only lost four times in the past seven seasons when scoring the opening goal.

Mitchell Honcoop leads the offensive attack with a team-high four goals this season. The offense averages 11 shots per match and is the sixth-most accurate team in the SAC, with 46% of its shots on target.

Carson-Newman and Lenoir-Rhyne have played to ties the past two meetings in this series. This past season in Jefferson City, LR played the final 73 minutes of the game down a player after a red card but managed to keep C-N off the scoreboard to leave with a point in a scoreless tie. C-N has the narrow 20-18-4 advantage in the series. C-N is winless in its last five meetings against the Bears, with its last win coming in 2017. Carson-Newman's most recent win in Hickory came during the 2014 season, a 4-0 rout of the Bears thanks to three first half goals.

Lenoir-Rhyne begins a stretch where it will play four of its final five games of the season at home, when it welcomes Carson-Newman to the Moretz Sports Complex on Saturday evening. The Bears have won three of their four games this season at home, with their only home loss coming to #8 Wingate.

The Bears started the season 2-2, playing three ranked teams in their first four games and won one of them. In October, LR is 2-3 and enters the match on a two-game skid. It suffered road losses to #8 Coker one week ago and to Mars Hill on Wednesday.

LR is in a five-way tie for fourth place with Mars Hill, Wingate, Catawba and Anderson, all of which have nine points. The Bears are one of just two SAC schools that does not have a tie on their schedule this season.

Raul Canas is the top goal scorer with three goals in nine starts. Four different players are tied for the team lead in assists with two. Joining Canas as multi-goal scorers this season are Daniel Martinez, Harri Rowe, Oskar Dahlberg and Fran Tita.

Goalkeeper Cathal Carney has started seven of the nine games, saving 70% percent of the shots that head his way. He has a goalie record of 3-3 and has posted two shutouts. Carney has made 17 of his 26 saves in SAC games this season.

First touch in Hickory, North Carolina is set for 5:00 p.m. A live stream of the game is available with a subscription to FloSports at cneagles.com/flomsoc.
