2024 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams (PDF)

GREENVILLE, Ind. – Three Carson-Newman men's soccer players were recognized on the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games or started in at least 66 percent of the contests.

Paul Csmarich (Vienna, Austria), Jakob Lechner (Enzesfeld-Lindabrunn, Austria) and Federico Simonetti (Crema, Italy) were honored as academic all-district selections.

Csmarich earns all-district honors for the second straight season. He made 15 appearances this season and 13 starts. From his defensive midfield spot, he fired seven shots four of which were on target.

Lechner was a reliable center defender for Carson-Newman in his senior season. He was one of just three Eagles to start in all 16 games this season. He recorded his first career assist in an 8-0 rout of Newberry on Oct 23.

Joining Lechner as a first time all-district selection is Simonetti. The graduate student goalkeeper started 12 games for the second consecutive season and made 43 saves. He was posted a pair of clean sheets for the second straight year as well. He made four or more saves in half of his appearances this season.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The All-District award winners are recognized by CoSIDA as the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team honorees will be announced in early December.
