JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (1-4) men's tennis team hits the road for Young Harris (0-1) tomorrow afternoon.
"Young Harris is a formidable opponent," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said. "Playing a tough schedule will help us get ready for the conference season."
The Eagles are coming off a 7-2 loss to Tennessee Wesleyan Saturday afternoon. Stefano Daza brought home a point at no. 3 singles defeating Gad Azulay 6-2, 6-1.
At no. 1 doubles, Juan Perez (Ecuador) and Joao Pedro Oliveira (Brazil) toppled David Escobosa and Jacob Dorey 8-5 for the Eagles' second point.
The Mountain Lions dropped their season opener 6-3 at Valdosta State. Sebastian Edin and Abel Pigache each brought in a point in singles play. The no. 1 doubles team of Guilherme Frias and Raul Quevedo accounted for Young Harris' third point.
Last year, Young Harris swept the Eagles 9-0 early in the season.
"We have a chance to rebound," Love said, "and play better tennis after our opening loss last Saturday."
The match is set for Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m.
