JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (4-14, 2-5 SAC) men's tennis team dropped today's home match 9-0 to Tusculum (12-3, 5-1 SAC).
The team of Austin Mackay (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Joao Pedro Oliveria (Brazil) battled hard at no. 2 doubles, but ultimately fell 8-6 to David Siegle and Joseph Elphingstone.
The Pioneers took all of the singles matches in two sets. Jonathan Allen (Lenoir City, Tenn.) had his eye on victory at no. 4 singles, but Siegle overcame him with a 6-3, 6-2 final.
At no. 2 singles, Stefano Daza (Venezuela) was just shy of taking Nocolas Planchard in the frist set. However, Planchard put up a good fight and took the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
The Eagles continue conference play at Mars Hill tomorrow at 2 p.m.
