UAH heads to Eagle Country

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (2-5) men's tennis team prepares for it match against the University of Alabama-Huntsville (0-1) set for 1 p.m. tomorrow.

"This is another opportunity for us to get better," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said, "and learn about ourselves."

The Eagles are coming off a gigantic 5-4 victory over Lee University last Tuesday. The doubles teams of Perez and Oliveira at no. 1 and Daza and Austin Mackay (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) at no. 2 put the Eagles up 2-1 going into singles play.

Singles victories from Juan Perez (Ecuador), Joao Pedro Oliveira (Brazil) and Stefano Daza sealed the win for C-N.

"We are going to stay focused on the process of doing the little things it takes to get better," Coach Love said. "Each individual and each doubles team is committed to this approach."

Last Sunday, the Chargers fell 9-0 to no. 3 West Florida.

The Eagles were swept by UAH on the road last season.

"UAH will be a tough opponent for both the men and women," Coach Love said. "It will help prepare us for conference play."

The match kicks off at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.
