JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (3-10) men's tennis team lost 7-2 to University of Alabama-Huntsville (6-3) earlier this afternoon at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.

"Today," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said, "was a tough one."

In doubles play, Juan Perez (Ecuador) and Joao Pedro Oliveria (Brazil) defeated Bruno Medeiros and Pablo Herrero 8-3 to send the Eagles into singles only trailing by one.

"Our first point came from Juan and JP at no. 2 doubles," Coach Love said. "They played really well today."

Stefano Daza (Venezuela) contributed C-N's second point with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Fredrik Graaner at no. 2 singles.

"Stefano," Coach Love said, "had another good outing in singles as well."

Oliveria came close to a singles victory in the no. 3 spot, but fell to Nestor Perez 6-4, 7-5. At no. 5 singles, Lee Presson (Crossville, Tenn.) retired in the second set to Herrero.
