JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (3-13, 1-4 SAC) men's tennis was toppled 9-0 by Wingate (10-6, 4-0 SAC) earlier this afternoon.
"We gave a good effort," Carson-Newman head tennis coach Jean Love said, "but Wingate is just a better team."
The team of Austin Mackay (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Joao Pedro Oliveria (Brazil) battled against Ryan Forbes and Connor Kudrick at no. 2 doubles, but ultimately lost 8-5.
Mackay put up a good fight at no. 5 singles as well before falling 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) to Forbes. Oliveria neared victory at no. 3 singles before falling 6-3, 6-4 to Filippo Pezzoli in the no. 3 spot.
Reinhardt heads next into Eagle country. The match will take place tomorrow at 1 p.m.
