JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – When Carson-Newman (2-3-1, 1-1) takes the field on Saturday afternoon in Hartsville, S.C, it will go for an eighth straight victory over the Coker Cobras (4-1-1).

A series started in 2013 has been dominated by Carson-Newman. The first all-time meeting was a scoreless tie on October 19, 2013. Coker followed with its only win in the series, a 2-0 road victory in 2014. Since then, Carson-Newman has dominated Coker, winning seven matches in a row, and outscoring the Cobras 38-1 during this impressive stretch.

The trip to Hartsville will be C-N's first since the 2019 season, a game that saw Carson-Newman score three times on its way to a 3-1 victory.

The most competitive game in the last seven meetings came last season. The Eagles held on to win 2-0 but had one of those goals scored on a Coker own goal.

Saturday's match will be the fourth time Carson-Newman plays on a Saturday this season. The Eagles are 0-3 when playing a weekend match this year.

Carson-Newman enters the match off its first South Atlantic Conference win of the season, a 4-1 victory over the Wasps on Wednesday. In both wins this season, Carson-Newman has scored four goals and five goals. Under head coach Simon Duffy, The Eagles are 61-2-3 when scoring three goals or more.

Alba Delgado (Oviedo, Spain) leads the Eagles with three goals scored, two of which came in the win two days ago. Felicia Frick (Eschen, Liechtenstein) has also keyed C-N's success on the offensive end this year. She has two goals scored and has assisted on three others, a team high.

C-N is still looking for its first clean sheet of the season. Nine straight opponents have scored at least once on the Eagles defense.

Coker enters Saturday's match riding a three-game winning streak. The Cobras began the year with a scoreless tie against Barton, and then a 1-0 win over Erskine. The team's only loss came next time out against Mars Hill at home. Since that loss, Coker has won three games in a row, outscoring opponents 9-5 during the win streak.

The Cobras enter the match 1-1 in league action, with the one win coming against Tusculum on Sept 16. Coker finished 2022 with a 2-8-2 mark in SAC play, winning its first two conference games a season ago.

Freshman Lily Borgman is the reigning SAC Offensive Player of the Week. She scored twice and had an assist in a win over Francis Marion. Fellow freshman Mallie Bates is the team's leader with three goals and three assists, all of which have come in the last three games. Mila Rausch has also been a solid contributor offensively with three assists and one goal this year. She has the most shots and shots on goal in six matches.

The Cobras rank top five in multiple defensive categories, led by freshman goalkeeper Rhyan Parkin who has 21 stops in four starts with a pair of shutouts as well.

Kick off is set for 4:30 p.m. from the Coker Athletic Field. The game can be streamed on FloSports with a subscription. Fans can also follow along to @CN_Eagles on Twitter and Instagram for in-game updates.
