2023 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Teams
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference recognized three Carson-Newman women's soccer on the preseason All-Conference teams, as announced earlier today.
Graduate student Addie Henry (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and senior Abbie Zander (Baneberry, Tenn.) earned second team honors, while sophomore Felicia Frick (Eschen, Liechtenstein) was named to the third team.
Entering her fifth season, Henry has been recognized by the conference the past four seasons. Her freshman year, she All-SAC Honorable Mention. During the spring of 2021, she earned first team honors. Later that fall season, the midfielder was named to the third team. And then this past season, she was a second-team selection. The Chattanooga, Tennessee native is coming off her best statistical season with the Eagles. In 2022, she scored three goals and added a career high five assists. She led C-N in assists, shots (44), shots on goal (24) and tied for the team lead in points (11). Henry has made 49 starts in 56 appearances and has ten goals and 11 assists in her C-N career.
Zander earns the preseason second team pick after her best season in Mossy Creek. The Baneberry native led C-N with five assists during 2022 and scored one goal on just eight shots. She was the only Eagle to start and play in all 17 games during last season. She led the team in minutes on the pitch with 1,461. Zander has 37 career appearances, scoring five goals and adding seven assists through the first three seasons of her C-N career.
Frick rounds out C-N's preseason selections, being placed on the third team. As a freshman, Frick became a constant on the pitch for Simon Duffy's team. She played and started in all 16 of the team's regular season games last season. Her 1,329 minutes played were second most on the team, behind Zander. She scored two goals, both of which were penalty kicks. Her lone assist of the season came in a 6-0 win over Emory & Henry on Sept 21. Seven of her 18 shots were on goal.
Duffy's crew begins the 2023 season with a home match against North Greenville on Aug 31 at 4pm.
