Women’s Soccer earns USC academic team award for eighth straight year

United Soccer Coaches Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Carson-Newman women's soccer program has earned a Women's Team Academic Award for the eighth straight year following the United Soccer Coaches announcement earlier this week.

A total of 823 soccer teams (320 men, 503 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 academic year. Of that total, 188 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

One of the 503 women's teams was Carson-Newman, posting a team grade point average, GPA, of 3.59. This is the eighth straight year under Coach Simon Duffy that the Eagles have been recognized. Carson-Newman has been recognized for the award every year under Duffy's tenure as head coach of the program.

"I'm incredibly proud of the players once again for having so much success in the classroom," Duffy said. "It is great that we have set a standard for our team on and off the pitch. To do it for eight consecutive seasons is nothing short of amazing."

Carson-Newman was recognized alongside fellow South Atlantic Conference women's soccer schools Anderson, Catawba, Emory & Henry and Lenoir-Rhyne.
