JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – With 10 days of rest, Carson-Newman (4-1-1, 1-0-1 SAC) hits the road for the fourth time this season as it travels to Emory, Virginia for a South Atlantic Conference contest against Emory & Henry (3-2-1, 1-1 SAC) Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.

Simon Duffy's team is 1-1-1 on the road to begin the season. The win and tie came in back-to-back matches against Trevecca Nazarene and Catawba two weeks ago. Excluding the covid-shortened 2021 spring season, Duffy's teams have won at least three road games each year.

Carson-Newman is off to its best start since 2017, when it started 5-0-1 that season. This year's 4-1-1 start just edges the 2021 team that began the season 3-1-2. It's the third time in eight seasons under Duffy that C-N has just one loss through its first six games of a season.

C-N enters tomorrow's match on a five-match unbeaten streak. It's the longest unbeaten stretch since winning seven games in a row during the 2022 season. It's the seventh time in eight seasons under Duffy that Carson-Newman has managed a five-match or longer unbeaten streak.

If the Eagles can stay unbeaten in Wednesday's match against Emory & Henry, it will be the program's best start in league play since 2018. That season saw C-N win its first three games in league play before falling to Tusculum at home.

Carson-Newman has been strong in South Atlantic Conference play under Simon Duffy. The 8th year head coach has posted a 49-15-8 record against the league since taking over in 2017.

After her first career multi-goal game this past Saturday versus Coker, sophomore defender Karli Pettitt (Kingston, Tenn.) is up to four goals this season, the second-most in the South Atlantic Conference. Krista Nielsen (Saudarkrokur, Iceland) joins Pettitt as a multi-goal scorer this season with two, while six others have scored at least one goal. In total, eight different players have scored a goal. Three others, that have not scored a goal, have assisted on a goal giving Carson-Newman 11 different players that have recorded a point this season.

C-N has been dominant in just two meetings with the Wasps. It has won both games and has done so by outscoring E&H 10-1. In the only game played in Emory, Virginia between the two schools, Carson-Newman won 6-0, scoring three times in each half.

Emory & Henry is 3-2-1 to start the season with a 1-1 conference record. The Wasps were picked to finish last in the South Atlantic Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll but have quickly began to prove teams wrong. They secured their first win as a member of the SAC on Sept 15, defeating Anderson at home 2-1.

The two other wins for the Wasps came in shutout fashion over Shaw and Virginia State. In both losses and the lone draw, E&H has failed to score. It has won every game it has scored a goal in.

After losing seven games at home in 2023, E&H has started this year's home slate unbeaten at 2-0-1. One of those wins is a league win over Anderson on Sept 15. They have shutouts in two of the three home games and have outscored their opponents 4-1 in three games in Emory, V.A.

Charlotte Stavis is the heart and soul of the E&H offense through six games. She leads her team in every important offensive statistical category and is the only player with multiple goals this season. In E&H's past two wins, she has scored the game-winning goal, including both goals in a 2-0 over Virginia State.

Head coach Filipe Barateiro has rotated between three different goalkeepers in the first month of the season. Sophia Wagner has the most starts with three, but both Ava Puskas and Adriana Rehg have started games as well. Wagner has eleven saves, with three goals allowed and sports a 2-1 record as goalie. Puskas has a team-high 14 saves and a 0-1-1 record. All three goalkeepers have a hand in at least one of the team's three shutout.

First touch from Fred Selfe Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. A live stream of the game is available with a subscription to FloSports at cneagles.com/flowsoc.
