Women’s Soccer earns team academic award

United Soccer Coaches Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carson-Newman women's soccer was recognized as one of 413 soccer programs for their exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2023-24 academic year, earning a team academic award announced by United Soccer Coaches yesterday.

Simon Duffy's team posted a team grade point average of 3.52 to be recognized alongside 240 women's soccer programs across all levels.

This team academic award comes after the program had six student athletes recognized on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams. Addie Henry (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Annika Fend (Herxheim, Germany), Savannah Fields (Johnson City, Tenn.), Felicia Frick (Eschen, Liechtenstein), Selina Jud (Wilderswil, Switzerland) and Molly Zander (Baneberry, Tenn.) all were honored as academic all-district selections earlier this year.

A total of 413 soccer teams (172 men, 241 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2023-24 academic year.

Carson-Newman's regular season begins in just over a month, opening the 2024 campaign in Columbus, Ga against Columbus State on Sept 5.
