JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head football coach Mike Turner took time from his preparations for C-N's upcoming fall camp to answer questions in the South Atlantic Conference's Digital Media Day.

You can watch a replay of a Facebook Live video of the proceedings and read his answers to questions below.

MOD: Coach Turner can you tell us a little bit about the coming season and who you think will be the key players as you head into camp?

Mike Turner: It's the third year for us here and its the first time we've really had a chance to work with some juniors and seniors. We feel like we have experience coming back in most every position. We of course are looking for depth. But you've got all-conference players. Montel Presley and Brian Bembry of course stick out on the defensive line. Darius Williams and Desmond Fairell on the secondary. We've got young men ready to step up and make a contribution. On offense, you look at an offensive line that's full of guys that have started since they were freshmen. We're blessed with the people we have at running back in Antonio Wimbush leading that group.

MOD: Coach, what kind of impact will UVa-Wise coming into the SAC have on the conference? With the close proximity of the schools, is this a contest that can become a conference rivalry?

Mike Turner: Absolutely it can with the proximity. We have a lot of alums and former players who are from that area. It's great for the South Atlantic Conference. It's another game you don't have to go chase. It's a great team to add because it helps with proximity.

MOD: In a question from Facebook, what does the QB position look like this year?

Mike Turner: We feel very comfortable with the quarterback position. Derrick Evans has been a factor in this league the last couple years. We also know Tyler Thackerson can be a factor in this offense and can be comfortable with him. Micah Young has moved back to quarterback after playing wide receiver. Then we have a freshman we recruited, Dee Johnson, who we think will be a difference maker.
