KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After wins over two ranked foes in the last seven days, the Carson-Newman men's soccer team (10-2-1) were ranked for the first time in 2015 as the Eagles ascended to 13th in Tuesday's edition of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America coaches' poll.
Carson-Newman is ranked for the first time since the 2014 preseason poll when the Eagles entered the year as the second-ranked team in the nation.
The Eagles are the second-highest team from the Southeast region as undefeated Pfeiffer from Conference Carolinas are undefeated and the top team in the nation.
Each of Carson-Newman's opponents last week, Young Harris and Wingate, are both ranked; the Mountain Lions are 23rd and the Bulldogs are 19th.
Pfeiffer is followed by Southern New Hampshire, the team that defeated C-N is the 2013 National Title game, is second; Midwestern State, Palm Beach Atlantic and Charleston round out the top-five.
Carson-Newman returns to the pitch on Wednesday afternoon as the Eagles head to face instate rival King (Tenn.) at Parks Field in Bristol at 1 p.m. The Tornado's athletic communications department will provide video and live stats for the match.
