Eagle alum Pereira signs on with Weston Bears FC

WESTON, Australia - Carson-Newman defender Rurik Pereira will continue his soccer career professionaly in Australia. 

The Brazilian defender has signed with the Weston Bears Football Club of the Northern NSW National Premier League. 

Along with men's basketball alum Ish Sanders, Carson-Newman has two alums playing professionaly in the Land Down Under.  

Pereira is a two-time All-SAC selection at defender and appeared in 16 matches and made nine starts in his senior season.  He came on late to score a pair of goals including the game-winning goal against Brevard on Senior Night on Oct. 24th while tallying another at Tusculum on Oct. 27th.

He registered assists against Wingate, King and Tusculum.

Pereira finished his career with 97 shots, which ranks sixth in the Carson-Newman record books. He started 65 career matches, which was fourth-most in school history and appeared in third-most matches with 72 career caps.
