Read repeats as TSWA Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman junior forward Tom Read (London, England) repeated as the Tennessee Sports Writer Association Player of the Week on Tuesday after an one-goal, three-assist week to lead the 21st-ranked Eagles to a 2-0 mark on the week.

The junior registered a goal and two assists on Wednesday afternoon on the road at King (Tenn.); Read's goal was the eventual game-winner for C-N in the 50th-minute. Read assisted on goals for freshman Bruno Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and junior Marius Staalby (Trondheim, Norway).

Against Brevard on Saturday, Read assisted Rurik Pereira's (Rio da Janeiro, Brazil) game-winning goal in the 84th-minute. Read sent in the corner kick that Pereira headed home in the 1-0 win.

Read is tied for second in South Atlantic Conference with 23 points on the year. He leads the league and is sixth in the nation with 11 assists. The junior averages 0.85 assists per game, which ranks fifth in the NCAA. The London-native is tied for second on the team with six goals in 2015.

Carson-Newman hits the road to play at Tusculum at Tuesday evening for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
