Eagles Fall to Union College, 5-4

RICHMOND, Ky. — The Carson-Newman men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to the Union College Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon.

Due to inclement weather, the match was moved indoors to the Adams Tennis Center on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

The Bulldogs got out to a quick start by taking two of the three doubles matches. The lone doubles victory for the Eagles came from juniors Chris Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Adriano Kira (Brazil) as they defeated Shilling/Oliveira 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles match.

Carson-Newman split the singles matches with victories by junior Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the No. 2 singles match, Kira in the No. 4 singles and Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) in No. 6 singles.
