HICKORY, N.C. — The Carson-Newman men's tennis team won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches en route to a 6-3 victory over Lenior-Rhyne on Friday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action at Hickory High School.
Sophomore Rodolfo Schwarz (Brazil) and junior Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) and the team of Adriano Kira (Brazil) and Chris Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.) got the Eagles off to a strong start with victories in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively.
Singles winners for the Eagles were Slagle, Jack Harvie (Snellville, Ga.), Derek Holdway (Woodstock, Ga.) and Dalton Moore (Gate City, Va.).
Carson-Newman is now 7-5 overall and 3-3 in South Atlantic Conference play. Lenoir-Rhyne drops to 1-12 on the season and 0-6 in the conference.
The Eagles return to action Thursday in Jefferson City against Brevard. Match time is 2 p.m.
