JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Tusculum Pioneers defeated the Carson-Newman men's tennis team by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action at the Carson-Newman Tennis Complex.
With the loss, the Eagles drop to 5-5 on the season and 1-3 in the conference. Tusculum improves to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in SAC play.
Tusculum led 2-1 after doubles and then took four out of the six singles matches to secure the victory.
Winners for C-N were sophomore Rodolfo Schwarz (Brazil) and junior Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) in No. 1 doubles, Slagle in No. 2 singles and freshman Paul Birdsong (Woodstock, Ga.) in No. 5 singles.
C-N returns to action on Saturday at Newberry College in Newberry, S.C.
