Carson-Newman Tennis Teams Garner ITA All-Academic Honors

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- The Carson-Newman men's and women's tennis teams have been named 2009 ITA All-Academic Teams, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced in August.

Four Eagles and three Lady Eagles also received individual awards.

Chris Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.), Jack Harvie (Snellville, Ga.), Adriano Kira (Brazil) and Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) were named Men's ITA Scholar Athletes, while Cassie Moulton (Maryville, Tenn.), Elizabeth Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Melissa Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.) were selected as Women's ITA Scholar Athletes.

To qualify for the award, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or above. For individuals to qualify, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
