Coach Jim Frederick announces the addition of Belcora to staff

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman tennis head coach Jim Frederick announced the hiring of new Graduate Assistant Mustapha Belcora on Friday. Belcora comes to Mossy Creek after playing three years at Troy University and then coaching at a national academy for the last year.

"To have someone of his quality coming to our program during this time is amazing" Frederick said. "He has such a quality of developing players to become higher quality athletes, and to have him do it for us is exciting."   

Belcora, the Meknes, Morocco native, compiled an overall career playing record just shy of .500 with a total of 64 wins to 66 losses. His most single season wins came during his junior year when Belcora went 21-11 in singles play in the no. 4 position. Belcora also postd a near .500 record in doubles (10 wins-11 losses) during his junior year from the number 4 position. Along with his outstanding singles career, Belcora also shined in doubles play over his career, compiling an impressive 23 doubles wins during his time at Troy.

"I got this big opportunity to be the Graduate Assistant for Carson-Newman University and I took it" Belcora said. "I'm very excited to be here."

Belcora is excited for this new opportunity and has already set some goals for what he hopes to acheive at Carson-Newman.

"I am very excited to work hard with the team and Coach Jim to hopefully win Conference this year" Belcora stated. "I have already started to learn from and adapt to the ways of Coach Jim, which I hope will continue for my time at Carson-Newman."
