JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (4-7, 2-3 SAC) returned home to start a two-match weekend from the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex. Saturday saw the Eagles square off with the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne, who took home the 5-2 team victory and handed C-N its third straight SAC loss.

Sophomore Marc Janse (Zeewolde, Netherlands) has not seen a blemish in any of his singles matches against SAC opponents thus far, going a perfect 5-0 at number two singles. Saturday was another impressive win notched by Janse who took home a 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 triumph over his L-R opposition.

"The men could have easily only lost by a score of 4-3," head coach Jim Frederick said. "We were just outmatched and outplayed in some matches."

Janse was joined on the victory side of the net by grad student Gabriel Dabdab (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) who came away with another crucial SAC singles victory in hopes of sparking his team. Dabdab was the 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victor on Saturday and moved his season record to 7-4 at the number four/five singles position. Dabdad and sophomore Ids Waterbolk (Bennekom, Netherlands) could not start their day off with a win as they were defeated 6-3 at number one singles.

The Eagles also could not muster a win in doubles at number two or three as C-N was defeated 6-4 at number two and 6-1 at number three.

The other singles results for C-N included: junior Rintaro Oka (Narita, Japan) falling 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles, Waterbolk seeing number three singles go 7-6, 6-3 in favor of his opponent, grad student Julian Froehlich (Kobenz, Austria) falling 6-2, 6-1 at number five singles, and sophomore Joshua Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) seeing another loss at number six singles with the result on Saturday being 6-1, 6-4 in favor of L-R.

The Eagles are right back in action tomorrow afternoon as they welcome the Newberry Lions to Jefferson City for a 1 p.m. first serve.
