Eagles nix matchup with Union (Ky.) Bulldogs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Saturday was supposed to be the start of the 2021 spring season for Carson-Newman men's tennis. However, due to COVID related issues, their opponent was only able to show up with four of the necessary six players.

Therefore, since the teams could not compete in recorded action, they came to a mutual agreement to cancel their scheduled matchup and play some practice sets against each other at the Knoxville Racquet Club. This allowed both C-N and Union (Ky.) to continue getting practice as they hope to start their respective seasons in the coming weeks.

If they would have competed, this would have marked the first true competition since the 2011 season that the team has saw action against the Bulldogs. On that 2011 day, the Bulldogs were the victors 7-2 over the beloved Eagles.

C-N will look to go start their spring season on the right foot and see action in a double-match day next Saturday. The Eagles will take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders and Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs next Saturday, Feb 13, at the Knoxville Racquet Club. Opening serve against Belmont Abbey is slated for 11 a.m. before the Eagles and Bulldogs battle in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
