SALISBURY, N.C. – Carson-Newman women's golf held serve on Tuesday, finishing the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, delivering another stellar team effort to finish the event at 66-over.
Emery Fisher led the Eagles, delivering a 71-stroke third round to climb 11 spots and finish the event tied for 6th. Fisher's third-round front nine featured three consecutive bogeys, but she birdied twice and carded four pars to enter the back nine at 1-over. Fisher carded six of the nine holes on the back nine at par and two birdies to overcome a bogey and finish the round at even-par.
Madison Cline also finished tied for 6th after carding a 79 in the final round. Cline added three strokes on a trio of bogeys on the front nine, but six pars helped her enter the final stretch at 3-over. She added five strokes on the back nine on four holes over par, but five pars limited the damage to end her round at 8-over.
Anaelle Picot tied for 10th, carding a 79 in the final round to finish the event at 16-over. Picot had five holes over par on the front nine, but a birdie and three pars helped limit the damage to enter the back nine at 5-over. Picot was solid on the back nine, carding four pars and a birdie to limit the damage of four bogeys and end the round at 8-over.
Ida Petersen finished 16th, carding an 83 in the final round to finish at 22-over. Petersen carded a pair of holes over par on the front nine, but a pair of birdies sent her to the back nine at 1-over. Eight of Petersen's final nine holes were over par, adding ten strokes to her total on the back nine to end the round at 12-over.
Parker Miller rounds out C-N, carding an 83 in the final round. Six holes over par on the front nine damaged Miller's tally, but a pair of birdies and a par limited the damage to enter the back nine at 7-over. Miller carded four pars and a birdie on the back nine, but four holes over par added four strokes to her tally to finish the round at 12-over.
The performance gives C-N momentum heading into the postseason, as C-N will prep for the SAC Championships on April 6th and 7th in Greenville, South Carolina, at the Verde Green Golf Club.
