Eagles Sit in 5th After Day One of the Fall Kick Off

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Eagles women's golf team sits in 5th place after day one of the Fall Kick Off, following a handful of solid rounds to start the fall season.

"I saw a mixture of first tournament jitters and getting a good feel for their playing style," head coach Bo Harris said. "But most of all, I saw effort in the face of adversity."

Leading the Eagles is sophomore Macy Bromley, delivering back-to-back 75s to finish the day in 10th place at 6-over. Despite three bogeys, Bromley delivered a consistent front nine with two birdies and four holes at par. The sophomore stroked a similar back nine, limiting the damage of three bogeys with a birdie to finish the round at 3-over.

In the second round, Bromley sat at 1-under after an impressive front nine with two birdies to just one bogey, stroking the other six holes at par. Bromley had four straight bogeys on the back nine but responded to the adversity, stroking the final five holes at par to finish the day in 10th place. Bromley sits just five strokes behind the top five going into day two.

Ida Petersen slots in at 14th after day one at 7-over. Petersen delivered an impressive first round, shooting a 73. Despite a rocky start with an early triple bogey, Petersen stroked seven of the first nine holes at par. Petersen tallied three birdies on the back nine to finish the round at 1-over.

In the second round, Petersen had three bogeys on the front nine but tallied a birdie and four holes at par. On the back nine, the junior stroked an early birdie before three straight bogeys but responded to the adversity nicely with four straight holes at par before a bogey on 18 to finish the day tied for 14th at 7-over.

Madison Cline sits in 43rd after the first two rounds at 18-over following 82 and 80-stroke rounds. Cline closed out the front nine at 5-over, limiting the damage to five holes over par with a birdie and three holes at par. On the back nine, Cline stroked three of the final four holes at par to finish the round at 10-over.

Cline cut two strokes off of her first-round total with an improved second-round. On the front nine, she birdied twice and had four holes at par to sit at 1-over entering the day's final stretch. On the back nine, she added six strokes but shot at par on the final two holes to finish the day at 18-over.

Newcomer Annaelle Picot finished tied for 57th at 21-over. Despite nine holes over par in the first round, Picot responded nicely with eight holes at par and also tallied a birdie to finish the round at 14-over.

Picot cut seven strokes off of her first-round total in the day's final round, shooting a 79. On the front nine, she tallied a birdie and had four holes at par to limit the damage of four bogeys. On the back nine, despite four bogeys, Picot shot five holes at par to finish the day at 21-over.

Sydney Thomas rounds out the Eagles, finishing the day in 85th. Thomas delivered a 91-stroke first round but responded nicely to adversity in the second, cutting six strokes off her first-round total to shoot an 85. Thomas had seven holes at par in the second round and added a birdie.

At 52-over as a team, C-N sits two strokes behind Tusculum for 4th place, entering the final day of action.

The Eagles return to Stoney Point Golf Club tomorrow at 8 AM for the final round of the Fall Kick Off.
