C-N Finishes 2nd at Battle at Hilton Head, Paced by Two Top 10 Finishes

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Carson-Newman women's golf secured an impressive second-place finish at the Battle at Hilton Head, powered by two top ten finishes from Anaelle Picot and Ida Petersen.

Picot jumped five spots in the final round to finish in 5th at 10-over, shooting a tournament-best 72 in the final round. She was stellar on the front nine, stroking three birdies to combat a bogey while adding four pars, entering the final stretch at 2-under. Despite adding a pair of strokes on the back nine, Picot limited the damage with two birdies and four pars to finish the round even-par.

Ida Petersen notched a 7th place finish, carding an 80 in the final round to finish the tournament at 12-over. Petersen shot a pair of birdies, but six pars and a birdie sent her to the back nine at 1-over. Despite adding a handful of strokes on five holes over par, Petersen's third round tally put her in the top ten at the end of the event, finishing the round at 8-over.

Madison Cline secured a nice finish, closing out the two-day event in 16th following a 77 in the third round. Despite five pars on the front nine, Cline added four strokes on four-consecutive bogeys. However, Cline closed the tournament with a solid back nine, stroking six pars and a birdie, adding just one stroke on a pair of bogeys to finish the round at 5-over.

Sophomore Emery Fisher shot a tournament-best 76 in the final round, finishing tied for 23rd. Her front nine featured a birdie and six pars to limit the damage of a pair of bogeys to enter the final stretch at 1-over. Despite adding three strokes on the back nine, Fisher stroked six pars including a stretch of four-straight to finish the round at 4-over.

Parker Miller closes out C-N with a 49th place finish at 32-over following an 81-stroke third round. Despite adding six strokes on the front nine, Miller only added a trio of strokes on the back nine, carding seven of the final nine holes at par to finish the round at 9-over.

With an impressive spring debut under first-year head coach Alyssa Montgomery, C-N will look to build on the early momentum at the Jerry Surrate Memorial in Monroe, North Carolina, on March 10th.
