TOCCOA, Ga. – No. 33 Carson-Newman shifted up a spot on the final day of the DII Currahee Elite Invitational, finishing tied for 10th following a solid overall team round.
Madison Cline led C-N, finishing tied for 25th after a 75-stroke third round. Cline was solid on the front nine, stroking six pars and a birdie, but a pair of bogeys sent her to the final stretch at 1-over. Despite four bogeys on the back nine, Cline birdied twice and shot the rest of the holes at par to finish the round at 3-over.
Sophomore Macy Bromley tied for 35th, carding a 78 in the final round. Bromley shot four pars on the front nine, but five bogeys sent her to the back nine at 5-over. The sophomore improved on the back nine, stroking six pars and a birdie to offset two bogeys to finish the round at 6-over.
Ida Petersen jumped seven spots in the final round, tying for 41st at 12-over after carding a 75 in round three. Petersen started the round nicely, stroking four pars and two birdies on the first six holes. Two holes over par down the stretch sent her to the back nine at 1-over. On the back nine, the junior carded eight pars, but a late double bogey added a pair of strokes to her total to end the round at 3-over.
Sophomore Emery Fisher closed the fall with a 52nd-place finish at 17-over after shooting a 77 in the final round. Fisher was impressive on the front nine, carding three birdies to overcome two bogeys and enter the back nine at 1-under. Fisher birdied on the back nine, but four holes over par added six strokes to her total to finish the round at 5-over.
Anaelle Picot rounds out the Eagles, finishing tied for 62nd at 22-over. Picot started the day with a birdie, but four holes over par down the stretch sent her to the back nine at 4-over. She stroked four holes over par on the back nine, but five holes at par limited the damage to finish her round at 8-over.
After a solid fall season under first-year head coach Bo Harris, the Eagles will regroup before preparing for the spring.
