Eagles Look to Finish Fall Season Strong at Currahee Invitational

VIDEO: Bo Harris Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman women's golf team closes its fall season on Monday and Tuesday, competing in the Currahee Invitational in Toccoa, Georgia.

In his first fall with the Eagles, head coach Bo Harris has helped C-N earn a top-30 ranking. He believes that despite some early growing pains, his team is in a good spot heading into the final event of the fall.

"I think it has been great," Harris said. "There have been some growing pains with the new coaching change, but it's been a great challenge. I've taken this fall as an opportunity to get to know my players and for them to get to know me. Through all of that, the fact that we've been able to compete at the level that we have has been great."

Madison Cline and Macy Bromley have matched or exceeded their career-high rounds twice, helping pace the Eagles throughout the fall, and Harris has seen improvement in them and everyone on the team.

"They've both worked hard and been consistent," Harris said. "With all of these girls, it has been the same thing… The amount of practice they put in outside our team practice and taking what they learned from last year has been great… The more tournaments they get, the more comfortable they will be in that competitive environment."

Heading to Toccoa for the Currahee Invitational, Harris acknowledges the impressive field but knows his team can compete with the best.

"This tournament has a very impressive field," Harris said. "I'm thankful that we have the chance to get out there and compete. This week is really about how tough we can be. How tough can we be mentally, and how tough can we be in maintaining and executing our preparation."

After the Currahee Invitational, C-N will prepare for the spring season, and exciting new developments within the golf program will help the team further excel.

"Tennessee weather is so unknown," Harris said. "Being able to incorporate things like a brand new PuttView simulator, a new Trackman system, and a few other variations of stuff we can use for drills all day and indoors has been great… The short game is a big part of what we do, so being able to see data on the spot is phenomenal."

Harris and the Eagles look to finish the fall season on a high note at the Currahee Invitational in Toccoa, Georgia, starting Monday at 8 AM.
