The third annual Frosty Awards will take place in April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Female Freshman of the Year

Natalie Harris: Freshman middle blocker (Monroe, N.C.) became the first Carson-Newman player to be named the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year. The award was first given in 1990. Harris was the top player on the All-Freshman team this season as well. The rookie had 321 kills in her first season at Mossy Creek, just shy of the freshman record since 2000. The most kills in a single season by a freshman came in 2003 when Melissa Miller piled up 367. She finished fourth in the league with 97 total blocks while finishing eighth with 379 total points and 321 total kills this season. Harris piled up 10 kills in C-N's first game of the year against Quincy on September 4. It marked the first time since August 29, 2001 that a true freshman had double-digit kills in a season opener when Jenna Rust had 12 against Union (Ky.).

Varin Ness: Freshman midfielder Varin Ness (Sogndal, Norway) finished her first campaign in the Orange and Blue as a two-time All-Southeast Region selection, the South Atlantic Conference's Freshman of the Year and a member of the SAC's first team All-Conference. Ness scored 12 goals and five assists 19 appearances. She registered at least one point in her first four matches in her career and scored in her first appearance in the Orange and Blue against Ohio Dominican. She set the school record for goals by a freshman in the season. Ness scored the game-winning goal against Lincoln Memorial in the SAC Tournament quarterfinals in the 59th-minute off a free kick when the Eagles were playing a player down. The Norwegian registered multi-goal games against Mars Hill and Lees-McRae.

Priscah Jemeli (Eldorett, Kenya) concluded her first season toting the orange and blue in impressive fashion. The freshman finished the season with three top-10 runs, including a first-place showing at the Maryville Dual Meet. The Kenya native recorded a season-best 19:14.3 time in the five-kilometer sectional run at the South Atlantic Conference Meet in late October. Jemeli became the first Carson-Newman women's runner to be named to the All-SAC team since Hannah Reese in 2011, and was the first Eagle to be place on the conference's All-Freshman team since Meredith Nix and Brooke Earhart in 2009.

Jessica Fraiture: Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Fraiture (Hebron, Ky.) ended her first season with the most wins by a goalkeeper in school history with 19 and finished with the second-lowest goals against average in a year with an average of 0.86. Her goals against average was second best in the South Atlantic Conference and ranked 32nd in the nation. She registered 62 saves, which were the ninth-most in the SAC, and owned a .805 save percentage.

Heida Ragney: Freshman midfielder Heida Ragney (Akureyri, Iceland) ended her first season as a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's third team and a first team member of the South Atlantic Conference's All-Conference team. She appeared and started all 22 games for the Eagles on the season as a defensive midfielder. She led the team and conference with eight assists and ranked 28th in the nation in the category. Against Catawba on Oct. 10th, the freshman registered the first three assist game in Carson-Newman history in a decade. She also contributed to goals against Alabama-Huntsville, Mars Hill, Anderson, Young Harris and Coker. Ragney is one of only four C-N players who played in every game during the season.
