Herrity named NSCAA third team All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carson-Newman junior forward Julianne Herrity (Donegal, Ireland) was named of the National Coaches Association of America third team All-American to become the first All-American for the program since 2010.

Herrity becomes the Eagles' sixth All-American and joins the ranks of Morgan Gruenfelder, Rebacca Angus, Stacey Thomas, Claire Ramsdale and Jennifer Bock in Carson-Newman lure.

The junior's first season at Mossy Creek included 16 goals and four assists in 19 starts and she became Carson-Newman's first South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year since 2006. The junior finished led the team in goals scored, tied for second in the league with her 16 scores and tied for 10th with four assists; her 16 goals are tied for the 17th in the nation. She registered 93 shots, which was the most in the SAC. Herrity recorded four multi-goal performances, which three happened against SAC opponents. She ranked seventh in the nation with seven game-winning goals, including scores against Lenoir-Rhyne and Young Harris in double-overtime. Herrity scored multi-goal games against Newberry, Catawba, Young Harris and Coker.

In the SAC Women's Soccer Championship against Wingate, Herrity assisted on the game-winning goal; she scored the game-winning goal against Anderson (S.C.) in the SAC Tournament semifinals in the 81st-minute off a corner kick. In the NCAA Tournament, she scored against Armstrong State and helped the Eagles clinch a spot in the Southeast regional final for the first time since 2009. The Donegal, Ireland-native also named the SAC's Player of the Week three times and was named to the league's first team.

Herrity is joined by Wingate's Kaitlyn Brunworth as the two lone SAC representatives.
