Eagles receiving votes in latest NSCAA national poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Carson-Newman women's soccer team (9-2, 5-1 SAC) received four votes and placed fourth in the Southeast region poll in the most recent edition of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America polls released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles are receiving votes for the first time since 2009 when the Eagles were ranked 11th before making a run to the Elite Eight.

Gannon University is the top-team in Division II at 12-0-0; South Atlantic Conference foe and Saturday's opponent Wingate is ninth in the nation with a 9-0-0 record.

North Georgia sits atop the Southeast region with a 9-0-1 record and the Bulldogs are second. Columbus State of the Peach Belt is third after going 2-0 and outscoring their opponents last week by a combined total of 16-0.

Carson-Newman is fourth after jumping three spots from last week's ranking after going 2-0 with conference wins over Lincoln Memorial and Catawba. Lenoir-Rhyne is fifth after capturing a win over Anderson (S.C.) on Saturday; the Bears also moved up three spots in the poll.

Armstrong State is sixth, the Trojans of Anderson are seventh, Belmont Abbey fell to eighth, Limestone stayed true in the ninth-position and Georgia College rounded out the top-10.

The SAC and PBC each have four teams in the top-10, while Conference Carolinas placed two teams in the rankings.

The Eagles return to the pitch on Wednesday evening on the road at Young Harris for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
