KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Due to unforseen circumstances with the amount of players available for Martin Methodist, Carson-Newman women's tennis earned a season-opening victory without taking the courts at the Knoxville Racquet Club Friday.

The team opted for a practice at the indoor facility in advance of the men's match, which saw C-N triumph by a 7-0 final.

"I wish the girls would have played tonight too, because it would have been a great way to get ready for a tough match tomorrow," head coach Jim Frederick said.

The tough matchup in question comes against the Lee Flames, who come into town for their own season opener for the spring 2020 season. Opening serve is set for 2 p.m.
