GAFFNEY, S.C. – Carson-Newman women's tennis (4-1, 1-0 SAC) have started off the 2021 conference portion with a solid team win over the Limestone Saints (2-1, 0-1 SAC) by a score of 5-2. Junior Ana Carla Resende was the keypoint for the Eagles as she was victorious in both doubles and singles. In doubles, she and senior teammate Abby Reis (Des Moines, IA) were 6-2 victors.
Resende then went on to battle 6-4, 7-6 in no. 1 singles over Limestone's Kizner-Luca. Reis did not see singles action but was able to cheer her team to victory anyway.
"Girls were in charge the entire match. Ana Carla won a very tough match even though she did not play her best," head coach Jim Frederick said.
Senior Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) started her day off with a 6-4 victory in no. 2 doubles alongside sophomore teammate Natasha Forrest (Jersey, United Kingdom). Price took the 6-0, 6-1 victory at the no. 3 spot while Forrest stumbled but battled hard, ultimately losing 6-4, 6-1 at the no. 5 singles.
