JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Due to the effects of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina, the volleyball match between Carson-Newman and Mars Hill has been postponed.
The Friday, October 4 match at Mars Hill was postponed due to the effects and ongoing recovery efforts in the Western North Carolina region. The two programs are in talks to secure a make-up date; however, as of Thursday afternoon, no plans have been made to play the match later this season.
Our prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Helene, and we pray for a quick recovery.
The Eagles' next match will be Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7:00 p.m., when they travel to Harrogate, Tenn, to face the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters.
Mars Hill has postponed three straight conference matches, including matches against Coker and Catawba, which were also disrupted by the storm.
Carson-Newman is alone atop the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 6-0 conference record and is riding a five-match winning streak under first-year head coach Cat Collins.
