Carson-Newman Ranked Eighth in Regional Ranking

NCAA RANKINGS

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman has been ranked eighth in the most recent NCAA Southeast Regional Ranking.

The Eagles earned the ranking after a 16-9 start to their season and being named one of the ten teams listed as "under consideration" last week.

The top eight teams in the rankings earn bids to the NCAA Tournament in December. Three conferences (South Atlantic, Peach Belt, Conference Carolinas) earn automatic bids, and the remaining five spots are at-large spots.

Based on the rankings, the top-ranked team from Conference Carolinas, Emmanuel (Ga.), is outside the top eight. With the conference's automatic bid, it would push the Eagles outside the field of 64 if the NCAA Tournament were to start today.

Fellow SAC schools Wingate, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Anderson, ranked first, fourth, and seventh, join the Eagles in the NCAA's Southeast Regional Ranking, respectively.

The rankings do not consider the Eagles' most recent match, a road loss to Limestone.

Carson-Newman has one match remaining in the regular season before the SAC Volleyball Tournament, which is against Anderson inside Holt Fieldhouse on Friday night.

Based on the results of the match against Anderson and the remaining two matches on Mars Hill's regular season schedule, the Eagles will either earn the third, fourth, or fifth seed at the conference tournament.

Carson-Newman last earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2022 when it earned the three-seed, falling in the first round to Flagler.
