Cherry and Hafey Named to CSC Academic All-District Teams

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024 Academic All-District teams on Tuesday, with Blair Cherry and Trinity Hafey earning the nods.

To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, competed in 90 percent of the institution's games, or started in at least 66 percent of the contests.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

This year marks the third year in a row where two or more Eagles have been selected to the academic all-district teams after a six-year hiatus from 2016-2021. Carson-Newman had four selections last season, with Taylor Adams, Emmagrace Cobb, Julia Wheeler, and Skylor Weaver collecting the honor.

Blair Cherry (Knoxville, Tenn.) earns the distinction for the first time after being named to the All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team with an over 1,000 assist season, marking the first time an Eagle has surpassed the 1,000 assists mark in a single season since Abbey Hildenbrand in 2021.

It is also the first time earning the honor for sophomore Trinity Hafey (Grand Junction, Colo.). Hafey collected 272 digs last season and 14 service aces in her second season in an Eagle uniform.

Hafey is studying Business at Carson-Newman University, while Cherry is advancing toward a degree in Biochemistry.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Jan. 14, 2025.
