JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Emerson Ahsmuhs has been named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after her performances against Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne.
Freshman Emerson Ahsmuhs (Placentia, Calif.) has taken home the top in-season honor in the SAC for the week of October 28 after setting new career highs in hitting percentages in back-to-back matches last week against Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne.
With 14 kills against Newberry and 15 against [RV] Lenoir-Rhyne, Ahsmuhs collected a .444 percentage against the Wolves before impressing with a .467 percentage in the match against L-R.
"[I'm] just working really hard with the coaches and Blair [Cherry], and having a connection with the setters is super important," Ahsmuhs said. "Having this honor is amazing, especially as a freshman, but I want to really thank my teammates for being there for me, supporting me, and having trust in me."
Emerson had set a high bar early, hitting .441 with 18 kills against in-state rival Lincoln Memorial in just her fourth collegiate match. During the season, the young outside has 222 kills for 2.96 per set and a .256 hitting percentage.
Carson-Newman used her efforts to take down Newberry in four sets on the road before sweeping Lenoir-Rhyne in upset fashion inside Holt Fieldhouse.
Ahsmuhs came to Mossy Creek as the 19th-best prospect in Southern California. After being named the Crestview League MVP, she guided El Dorado High School to a Crestview League Championship.
Her contributions will continue to benefit the Eagles, now looking ahead to the final six matches of the regular season and into the SAC and NCAA Tournaments.
