Men's Tennis Moves Up 22 Spots in Latest ITA Ranking

Men's Tennis ITA Rankings (Mar. 22)

TEMPE, Ariz. - No. 26 Carson-Neman men's tennis (6-6) jumps 22 spots in the ITA's NCAA Division II National Rankings. Marc Janse remains ranked for the second week in a row. Janse is the ITA's 72nd-ranked singles player.

Carson-Newman becomes the highest-ranked team in the SAC after defeating #17 Anderson University (8-1) on Mar. 18th. The Eagles controlled the match with a score of 6-1, advancing to 4-1 in the conference, with their lone loss being against Tusculum on Mar. 15th.

Other teams ranked in the SAC include Anderson falling to #28, Wingate moving to #31 after being ranked at 28 last week, and Tusculum being ranked #35 despite beating Carson-Newman 4-3. Limestone is ranked #37, and Newberry is the lowest-ranked SAC team at #43.

The #28 ranking is the highest that the Eagles have been ranked since last season when the Eagles were placed 23rd on Apr. 7th.

Janse is riding an eight-game win streak following his matchup with Anderson. Janse has primarily played as Carson-Newman's one player. He holds a record of 6-2 in the one spot but has also racked up three wins as the two. Janse is Carson-Newman's winningest player, having notched 50 career wins with just 22 career losses. His win percentage of 69.4% ranks third in program history.

Carson-Newman returns to action with a matchup against Coker University (2-8) on Saturday, Mar. 25th.
