ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – No. 24 Carson-Newman turned in its lowest round of the week to move up into a tie for seventh to close out the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate at the St. John's Golf Club on Tuesday.

The Eagles carded a 301 in the final round, tying for the best par-5 scoring team in the round with a three-under 4.85 average. On the week, they were 49-over with a 913, finishing 18 shots out of first.

"Disappointing week for the Eagles," Carson-Newman coach Randy Wylie said. "We really have to step up our game before our next event. Every player played below expectations and I did not coach or prepare them well enough."

C-N tied for the most eagles carded in the entire tournament with Fergus Robinson (Towcester, England) shooting one in the second round and Fintan McKenna (Aberdeen, Scotland) firing one on Tuesday to highlight the best round of the day for Wylie's bunch.

McKenna's 72 in the final round was not only the lowest an Eagle scored on the day but also a personal best for the senior in three appearances at the event.

Despite shooting his highest round in two days with a 79, also standing as his highest round score on the season, Tom Forster (Oundle, England) still ended up as the highest Eagle on the leaderboard, sitting in a tie for 18th with a nine-over 225. The senior turned in seven bogeys on the day, five of those coming on par-4 holes.

Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) completed the final hole he had left from the second round early on Tuesday, carding a 78 in the round to be 10-over before heading into the final 18 holes of the day. He fired a 73 on Tuesday for a 227 total that was good enough for a share of 22nd.  The sophomore landed three birdies for a second straight round but added on four bogeys for a one-over day.

Six shots behind Mynatt was Fergus Robinson (Towcester, England), tied for 48th with a 17-over 233. The junior was one-over through his first nine holes of the day but tacked on a three-hole-sequence of a double bogey and back-to-back bogeys to go five-over in the round.

Holding a share of 62nd was Alex Hodge (Knoxville, Tenn.) after going a second-straight round with an eight-over outing, pushing him to a 236 through the three rounds at 20-over par. He found a pair of birdies throughout the day but it was a barrage of bogeys that heightened his score, including a triple-bogey on the par-4 14th holes.

McKenna rounded out the Eagles on the leaderboard Tuesday in a tie for 78th at 27-over with a 243. The senior shot under-par on four holes including an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole.

No. 1/2 Barry won the event title after going eight-over on the day, moving its 54-hole total to 895. No. 7/11 Lincoln Memorial finished 11 shots back for second with Flagler taking third at 43-over.

North Greenville's Evans Lewis went wire-to-wire to take the individual crown as the only player under par through the three rounds with a two-under 214. Queens' Taisuke Ono was the runner-up at two-over while Albany State's Tyler Hanson was third at four-over.

C-N heads into a week-long respite before igniting back-to-back weeks of competition, starting with the Hurricane Invitational. That two-day tournament is slated to start on Monday, February 24 at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga.
