INDIANAPOLIS – In the first Golfstat ranking of the spring season, Carson-Newman has jumped up seven spots from the end of the fall to now be No. 17 in the nation.

The Eagles closed out the first half of the season with a 24th-place spot on the ranking from the organization back on Nov. 12, 2019. This is the highest ranking the unit has seen since sitting at No. 14 in April 2019.

On the season, the Orange and Blue have collected a pair of top-three finishes, including a win at the North Georgia Fall Invitational. It holds a 72.27 scoring average through the first five events of the season.

Only one other team is in the Golfstat list with Carson-Newman, that being Lincoln Memorial at No. 10.

The Eagles are currently fifth in the Southeast Region Rankings that were released by the NCAA on February 7.

C-N coach Randy Wylie's group opened the spring this week by tying for seventh at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, shooting 49-over par with a 913 to sit 18 shots out of first.

It will be another 12 days before the Eagles hit the links again for tournament play, next heading to the Hurricane Invitational. That two-day tournament is slated to start on Monday, February 24 at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany, Ga.
