VIERA, Fla. – A 15-over day for No. 22/23 Carson-Newman resulted in a one-spot slide down to sixth-place to close out the Panther Invitational on Tuesday with a 45-over 909.

Fergus Robinson (Towcester, England) led C-N in the final day with his best round of the week and the best round of the day in the group with an even 72. He was the highest-placed Eagle on the leaderboard in a tie for 13th, matching his best placing of the season.

"Nice round by Fergus today," Carson-Newman coach Randy Wylie said. "Team still struggled to finish, so we have to get to work on that and be ready to go for Sevierville."

Carson-Newman was 15-over on Tuesday with a 303 round. For the entire event, the Eagles were the third-best par-3 scoring group with a 14-over average of 3.23. They were fifth for birdies with 35 while tying for sixth with 139 holes for par.

Robinson shot for par on each hole throughout the front-nine. He opened the back-nine with a bogey before stringing together three-straight birdies. He stayed even with a pair of bogeys that followed. The junior was the second-best par-3 scorer in the field with an even 3.00 average.

Both Fintan McKenna (Aberdeen, Scotland) and Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) ended up in a tie for 23rd by the end of Tuesday with a 227 total, 11-over par.

McKenna book-ended his week at the Invitational with a final round of 74, five shots better than his Monday outing. He carded his fewest birdies of the week with three and shot for bogey five times, three of those on par-4 holes.

Mynatt carded his lowest amount of holes under par on the week with a pair of birdies. On the flip side, he also notched his only triple-bogey in the event on the par-five 15th, pushing him to five-over with seven holes left to play. In that span, he brought in four bogeys.

The sophomore tied for third-best par-3 average in the field with a one-over 3.08.

Zach Young (Crossville, Tenn.) used an eight-over day to close his week with a final round of 81, tying for 48th with a 237. He shot for birdie in two of his first three holes in the round but tacked on six holes of bogey or higher, including a seven on the par-4 10th.

Despite scoring his lowest round of the week with a 77 on Tuesday, Will Collins (Knoxville, Tenn.) closed out the event in a tie for 53rd at 23-over. The sophomore scored a pair of birdies in his first three holes of the day before facing a triple-bogey and double-bogey in back-to-back holes. He added on four more holes of bogey or higher before shooting for par throughout the final stretch.

No. 2/1 Barry took home both the team and individual plaques, finishing at five-over with an 869 total. Kieser, the No. 2 team in the NAIA, went 11-over to take second with No. 12/12 Florida Tech in third at 27-over.

Barry's A.J. Ewart went wire-to-wire at the top of the leaderboard throughout all three rounds, closing out at six-under after staying in the red each day. He won the tournament by two shots with Keiser's Carl Fosaas in second at four-under and Tim Nielsen in third at one-under.

Carson-Newman gets a week off from tournament play to gear up for the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. That three-day tournament opens on March 15 at the Sevierville Golf Club in nearby Sevierville, Tenn.
