Forster set to play in Mackenzie Tour qualifier

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – While his teammates are taking part in the Panther Invitational, Tom Forster will be vying for a spot in the 2020 Mackenzie Tour with PGA TOUR Canada during a qualifying tournament March 3-6.

The Oundle, England-native heads back to the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. for the qualifier, the same course where he and the Eagles took an eighth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional.

Each of the six qualifying tournaments includes a field of 132 players in a 72-hole, stroke-play, no-cut tournament with exemption or conditional status in the tour for the 2020 season on the line. The low 40 qualifiers and any player tied for 40th will earn eligibility status.

The winner of each of the six qualifying sites will receive exemption for the tour's entire 2020 season. Those who finish 2-14 will be exempt through the reshuffle that follows the sixth event in 2020. Finishers 15-40 and those who may be tied for 40th will receive conditional status to the Mackenzie Tour's 2020 season.

Should the senior land a position on the tour, the season will begin in late May with the Canada Life Open at the Seymour Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia. The season concludes in September with the Canada Life Championship.

Forster currently sits at No. 54 among Division II players in Golfstat's ranking, holding a 71.4 adjusted scoring average. On the season, he has finished in the top-20 in five-straight events, three of those coming in the top-five. He won the North Georgia Fall Invitational in October with a 15-under 201 total, marking not only a career-best with C-N but also the second-lowest 54-hole score in South Atlantic Conference history.
