Carson-Newman Athletics Director Allen Morgan announced two personnel changes today. He has asked longtime NCAA compliance officer Eddie Carter to serve as Assistant Athletics Director for Internal Operations and named Richard Moodie as Director of Soccer. The announcements were made during a luncheon to introduce area sports reporters to Adam Cavalier, the program's new SID.

"These are exciting days at Carson-Newman," said Morgan, who joined his alma mater as AD in May. "Eddie's going to see to the daily operation of athletics, Richard's will run both men's and women's soccer, Adam will tell our stories, and our other coaches will continue to do the great jobs they have been doing. This will afford me more time to work with donors, area businesspeople and former athletes as we build on almost 120 years of athletic excellence. These are exciting days indeed."

As C-N's compliance officer since 2001, Carter has ensured the institution, its coaches, players and supporters have operated within the strictures of the NCAA and the South Atlantic Conference. He will continue those duties while handling daily administrative activities as well working with coaches and athletes to improve C-N's graduation rates and retention of student-athletes.

"Eddie's personal integrity and professional excellence have been benchmarks throughout his 31 years here," praised Morgan. "He's monitored the recruiting processes, been the eligibility guru, kept a watch on things like academic progress, and helped write a top-notch compliance manual, but beyond that, Eddie is one of those gifted people who draws excellence form those around him. He is also a remarkable coach and a gifted thinker. I am not able to convey how pleased I am that he said yes to this position."

Prior to his compliance work, Carter established himself as one of C-N's standout coaches, amassing a 248-142 record with only two seasons under .500. The five-time SAC Coach of the Year led the Lady Eagles to five SAC regular season championships ('90, '92, '93, '95 and '98), two NAIA tournament appearances ('92 and '93) and two NCAA tournament appearances ('95 and '98).

Most notably, every player who completed her eligibility during his tenure graduated.

Carter and his wife Vicky have three sons, Tommy, Bryce and Ryan, who, like their parents, are all C-N alumni.

A native of Stenhousemuir, Scotland, Moodie's affiliation with Eagle soccer began as a freshman ten years ago. He played for four seasons, graduated in 2006, and then served as graduate assistant from 2006-2008 while earning a master's degree in Education.
