JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Beach Volleyball takes to the courts for the first meet of the 2025 season this Friday, Feb. 14 in Jefferson City, Tenn. beginning at 11:00 a.m. This is a two-day meet starting Feb.14-15.

The first inaugural South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Beach Volleyball season gets underway in Mossy Creek ON Feb.14.

C-N was selected the preseason favorite to win the South Atlantic Conference in the Preseason Coaches poll. The Eagles racked up four first place votes with second place Tusculum receiving two. SAC Preseason Poll HERE.

"We're just excited to get started," said head coach Cat Collins. "Preseason feels like it lasts forever, and we're excited to showcase the work we've done so far."

Last year saw the Eagles finish with a 20-16 record overall and 6-3 in SAC play.

The new season kicks off  with the Eagles 11:00 a.m. matchup against the Manta Rays of Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ). This is the first-ever meeting between the Eagles and Manta Rays in beach volleyball.

"We're excited to have a Florida team because it's cold and we don't really get those too often," said Collins. "We look forward to playing them and putting our skills to the test."

Next up for C-N is a 3:00 p.m. matchup against the Lynchburg Hornets. This marks the first meeting between the Eagles and Hornets since 2023 where the Eagles swept the series 5-0.

"We played Lynchburg before so I'm excited to kind of learn and see a few different styles of play," said Collins.

Kicking off the second day, Carson-Newman takes on FSCJ for the second time at 11:00 a.m. before facing off against Southern Virginia's newly formed beach volleyball program at 3:00 p.m.

There is inclement weather projected for the second day of the meet, but Cat Collins is determined to not let that stop the team from competing.

"FSCJ asked if we had an indoor court and we had to tell them we didn't," said Collins. "The weather does affect us a little bit, but thankfully we're kind of used to it. The first practice this year we were shoveling the snow off our court. Our team is tough and they have been through a lot and played in every element."
