JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After returning from the Christmas break, head beach volleyball coach Cat Collins is set to release the schedule for the upcoming 2025 season.
"We have quite a few returners and even more new additions and we're excited to get going," said head coach Cat Collins. "This is probably one of the most athletic beach teams that C-N has ever had so it's exciting to see all the work the girls have put in. I'm excited to see all of the new girls and crossovers who bring a lot more height and power this year. The sky's the limit for us."
Carson-Newman opens the season by welcoming three out of conference teams in Lynchburg, Southern Virginia, and Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ) to the banks of Mossy Creek. In the two-day tournament beginning on Friday, Feb. 14 at 11am, the Eagles take on FSCJ at 11am and Lynchburg at 3pm. Day two sees the team take on FSCJ at 11am and Southern Virginia at 3pm.
Following the home opener, the Eagles make the trip to Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. for a two-day tournament. All opponents and times for this tournament are not available, so stay up to date with all updates at CNeagles.com.
The South Atlantic Conference has made beach volleyball an official sport for this upcoming season and the Eagles are excited to take on the new era.
The first conference weekend kicks off at Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. with times TBD. The Eagles will take the court against fellow SAC schools Catawba, Wingate, Erskine, as well as non-conference Emmauel.
"We are so excited to finally be a conference sport," said Collins. "It's a big deal. There is only one other division II conference for beach volleyball. It's awesome to be a part of history with a growing sport. The girls are excited to compete for a conference championship and have those titles and do those things in the big tournaments. Our schedule in between is preparing us for the end of the season…we're so excited to be a conference sport and compete for that."
Carson-Newman heads up the road to take on rival Tusculum beginning on Wednesday, March 19th with start time TBD. The Eagles then turn around to welcome the pioneers to Mossy Creek on Wednesday, March 26th.
Closing out March with Senior Night, Carson-Newman hosts a home tournament against Gaston and Spartanburg Methodist beginning on Friday, March 28th facing off against Gaston at 9am followed by Spartanburg Methodist at 1pm. The schedule remains the same for day two of the tournament.
The second conference weekend kicks off at Mossy Creek in a two-day tournament starting Friday, April 4th -5th. Catawba, Wingate, Erskine, and Emmauel will make the trip to Jefferson City.
The South Atlantic Conference Championship is set for April 11-12th with times and locations TBD.
Finally, Carson-Newman will compete in the National Tournament held in Gulf Shores, Ala. beginning on Thursday, April 17- 19th. Start times are TBD.
"I'm excited with this group," said Collins. " They do so well at leading themselves and it's the first group since I've been here where it's been my recruits and people that I've got to pick. It's really cool to see the dynamics that they have and see how hard they work. I think we're going to have a great season and these girls have worked so hard for it."
Carson-Newman kicks off the 2025 season on Friday, Feb. 14th when they welcome FSCJ, Southern Virginia, and Lynchburg to Mossy Creek.
Many tournament start times for the 2025 season have yet to be determined and will be updated on our website.
