JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – Carson-Newman golfers Andrew Hall and Nicklaus Kennedy have been selected as 2016 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Hall and Kennedy helped lead a 2015-16 C-N men's golf team that rose as high as 15th in the national rankings and earned a spot in the South/Southeast Regional of the NCAA Men's Golf Championships.
Andrew Hall (Knoxville, TN), who transferred to Carson-Newman in 2014, had an outstanding season for the Eagles. He earned first-team All-SAC honors, was a semifinalist for the 2016 Jack Nicklaus Award and a Ping honorable mention All-American by the GCAA. Hall won the 2015 University of North Georgia Fall Invitational and finished in the top five three other times while also maintaining an excellent academic record.
Nick Kennedy (London, Ontario) also enjoyed a successful senior year and was placed on the All-SAC Men's Golf Championships first-team. Kennedy's stat line included a pair of top five finishes and a season-low round of a one-under 71 at the McDonough Cup in October. Kennedy accomplished this while also performing exceptionally well in the classroom.
In order to be eligible to be an All-American Scholar, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior, compete collegiately for at least three full seasons, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's events, have a stroke average under 78.0 in Division II and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
